What are the methods of using sterilization indicator tape?
Sterilization indicator tape is a product used to detect the presence of air and sterilizing agents during sterilization.
It is used to indicate whether it is a qualified sterilization indicator tape, usually medical tape.
Product specifications: 100m/10m per pack; Usage: After sterilization, scrub and disinfect with sterile water or alcohol,
stick the tape on the sterilized items with sterile labels, and connect them with the sterilizer with instruction labels. Put the bacteria and other items into the container together.
There are three different usages:
1.Ethylene Oxide Sterilization Indicator Tape (Ethylene Oxide Sterilization Indicator Tape) is used to indicate whether the sterilization package has undergone the ethylene oxide sterilization process.
Cut an appropriate length of tape and stick it on the package of items to be sterilized (or place the instruction card together with the items to be sterilized),
then place it in the ethylene oxide sterilization room after passing an ethylene oxide concentration of 600±50ml/l and a temperature of 50℃, humidity 65%~80%, sterilize for 3 hours, the tape will change
from red to green, indicating that the object has been sterilized.
2.Autoclave Indicator Tape, adapted to pressure steam sterilization instructions.
Cut an appropriate length of instruction tape and paste it on the items to be sterilized, then place it in an exhaust pressure steam sterilizer at 121°C for 20 minutes,
or in a pre-vacuum pressure steam sterilizer at 132°C~134°C for 4~6 minutes. , observe that the indicator on the indicator tape changes from yellow to black, indicating that the sterilization process is completed.
3.Plasma Sterilization Indicator Tape
is suitable for plasma sterilization
and is used to indicate whether the sterilization package has been plasma sterilized.
Take the indicator card and place it between the devices to be sterilized, wrap it with gauze, and then place it in a low-temperature plasma sterilizer at 45°C to 55°C for 25 minutes.
The indicator color block mark on the indicator tape changes from grass green to beige or beige. Yellow indicates that the sterilization package has been sterilized.
- Cover the indication tape with sterilized items or sterile items, stick it on the location where there are sterilized items or sterile items, and put it into the container together with the items with sterile items.
- Scope of application: used for sterilizing various types of disposable equipment, such as blood products.
- Sterilized items should be sterile or sterilized before sterilization.
- The items used for sterilization must not contain air and must be disinfected before use.
- When the instruction tape is not in direct contact with the air, there should be no bacteria in the area where it is attached, and it cannot be reused on other items after being applied.
- Immediately after use, stick the tape on the items to be sterilized.
- The tape should be dry, clean, transparent and strong so that it can be easily attached to other items.
- Before operating the sterilizer, the sterilizer should be cleaned and dried, and check whether the sterilizer is working properly before use.
Before opening the sterilizer, make sure it has been cleaned and there is no sewage or other liquid remaining in the sterilizer.
Sterilizers can use high-temperature steam or high-pressure steam for sterilization.
High temperature sterilization items should be placed in a dry and sterile environment.
When in use, the sterilizing agent in the sterilizer should have sufficient time to take effect.
The sterilizer must be able to maintain a good dry state;
Sterilized items should be placed in the sterilization box for sterilization;
- The temperature of the sterilizer should be kept above 20℃ during operation, and the operating temperature should be 20-40℃.
As the temperature drops, the indicator tape will begin to darken.
(1) Heating time: when the temperature is above 20°C, the sterilization time is 2-5 minutes;
(2) Sterilization: raise the temperature to 30°C, and then gradually lower the temperature;
(3) During the heating process, the status of the indicator should be checked every 0.5-1 min.
(4) The indicator should all disappear after cooling. If there is any left, it can be stored in the refrigerator;
(5) If substandard products are found, stop the sterilizer immediately.
Product standards: Product technical requirements: Product specifications
1. Sterilization items: indicator tape
2. Indicator: indicator tape
3. Sterilization time: 10 minutes;
4.During the air sterilization process, the sterilizer exhaust device should be checked frequently.
The air cannot be exhausted, otherwise the pressure in the sterilizer will be too high and the sterilizer will be damaged.
All the air cannot be discharged, and some air remains in the sterilizer.
When the pressure inside the sterilizer exceeds the specified sterilization pressure, the air should be exhausted before sterilization.
If the sterilizer has a double-layer structure, the lower layer of each layer should be equipped with an exhaust device to prevent bacteria from the upper layer from contaminating the lower layer.
The exhaust time of the exhaust device must be carried out according to the program.
When sterilizing, try to avoid blowing air into the sterilizer.
5.After air and sterilizing agents enter or are discharged from the outside, the sterilizing equipment and environment should be replaced immediately.
Air: Enter from any direction of the sterilization environment. When there is no sterilant in the air and the concentration is low, it can pass directly through the indicator label.
Sterilization area: The air is sterilized immediately after entering. When there is no residual air in the sterilization area, it can directly pass through the indicator label.
Sterilizing appliances: Air reaches the appliance through the indicator label and is sterilized.
Indicator: The indicator on the outer wall of the sterilizer is used to indicate the sterilization effect.
Indicators in sterilized items: Usually there is an instruction label affixed to the sterilization container, and the indicator is affixed with tape where it is not in direct contact with the sterile items; if there is residual air, the tape can be torn off or used Soak it in hot water and wipe it clean with your hands.
Indication: The glowing color or number produced by an indication tag indicates the status and results of the item.
When there is a sterilant in the air: the indicator label emits red light to indicate the presence of bacteria;
green light indicates the presence of bacteria;
yellow light indicates sterilization has been successful;
blue light indicates sterilization has not been successful;
flashing red light indicates that sterilization has not been successful. bacteria successfully.
6.If there is an emergency and it is necessary to change the workplace immediately or use a new workplace, the air must be exhausted before changing.
Precautions:
- If non-sterile items are contaminated, the sterilization indicator tape should be affixed to the non-disposable items before performing the next air treatment.
- The tape should be kept clean during use to avoid contamination.
- Product validity period: 6 months.
- Product appearance: There should be no defects such as deformation or damage; no deterioration such as discoloration or mildew; the packaging is complete, the labels are clear, and the handwriting is clear.
- Specification: “100m/10m” indicates that the sterilization indication tape can be used 100 times.
- During the operation, the tape should not be affixed to sterile items. The tape should be removed in time to prevent contamination.
Product specifications: 100m per package;
